Germany
IS BURNING

Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change  Potential emission reduction from mitigation measures

First the good news

man and pannels

That is 24.4 TWH from photovoltaics

With three times as many solar modules as in 2010

Wind Turbines

and 57.1 TWH from WIND power

Germany has the third largest wind power capacity in the world!

+ 32.2 TWH from nuclear power

After wind, nuclear power is our most important climate-friendly energy source

70.2  TWH come from coal

with emissions of

140,000,000

TONS of CO2 per year

That is enough to inflate 250,000,000 hot air balloons annually

and now the bad news ...

and it gets worse ...

Then come in the 1st half of 2023
  ~ 102.4  TWH
from coal

That's 40% of our electricity!

Due to the nuclear phase-out in 2021/2022

coal emissions grow  to 200,000,000 tons of CO2 per year.
That's 375,000,000 Hess air balloons every year.

The extension of the service life of our 6 nuclear power plants

saves one billion tons of CO2 emissions by 2045

Coal phase-out BEFORE nuclear phase-out!

It's not too late yet

by extending the service life of the 6 nuclear power plants:

Together they are  one billion tons of CO2.

A billion tons are

a quarter of our CO2 budget
